Certain components and actions within Cordaware bestinformed® require passwords. In order to make the administration of the passwords more easier, a “Password Safe” can be used. It excludes the step of naming the password everywhere when saving changes. A password in combination with an alias will be created and this password (e.g. the SMTP password in the System Settings) can be selected from a list in the safe.
The App Password (System -> Password) is available for all these passwords. Here you have the opportunity to view and manage all passwords centrally.
Creating a password
In order to save a new password in the safe, click on the button (New) in the toolbar.
Enter an alias as the identifier of the password and optionally a description. Therefore the password and a confirmation have to be declared.
Finally, click Save to create the new password, which is then displayed in the overview. The new password is then available for selection wherever a password from the vault is required.
Example: SMTP password
You need a password from the vault to access the SMTP server, which is defined in the System app. To store a new password in the vault, proceed as follows:
1. Open the SMTP (System -> SMTP) app and click the (New) button. This opens a form.
2. Enter here the alias (e.g. "SMTP password") under which you want to store the password.
3. Enter the SMTP password and a repetition to confirm it.
4. Click Save to create the SMTP password.
The created password is then available in the SMTP settings.
